Oliver Norvell Hardy, originally named Norvell Hardy, was born on January 18, 1892, and passed away on August 7, 1957. He was a prominent American comedic actor renowned for being one half of the beloved duo Laurel and Hardy. This iconic partnership, which initiated during the silent film era, spanned from 1927 to 1951 and featured Hardy alongside his comedic counterpart, Stan Laurel, in a total of 107 short films, feature-length movies, and cameo appearances. Hardy's film career began with his first credited role in "Outwitting Dad," released in 1914. In some of his earlier performances, he was known by the nickname "Babe Hardy."

On August 7, 1957, Hardy succumbed to cerebral thrombosis at the age of 65. His contributions to the entertainment industry have been immortalized with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which can be found at 1500 Vine Street in Hollywood, California.
