Margaret JoBeth Williams, born on December 6, 1948, is a distinguished American actress and director, known for her impactful contributions to both film and television. She has garnered significant acclaim throughout her career, including nominations for an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and multiple Emmy Awards. Presently, she serves as the President of the Screen Actors Guild Foundation.

Williams gained widespread recognition for her performances in notable films such as *Stir Crazy* (1980), *Poltergeist* (1982), *The Big Chill* (1983), *The Day After* (1983), *Teachers* (1984), and *Poltergeist II: The Other Side* (1986). Her work in television has also been celebrated, earning her three Emmy nominations. She was recognized for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie for her roles in the films *Adam* (1983) and *Baby M* (1988), along with a nomination for her guest appearance on the hit sitcom *Frasier* (1994).
