Directed by Li Han-hsiang after his departure from Shaw Brothers, this historical epic centers on Xishi, one of China's legendary Four Great Beauties. Set during the tumultuous Warring States Period, the narrative unfolds as the kingdom of Yue seeks vengeance against the victorious Wu. King Goujian of Yue cunningly offers Xishi to King Fucha of Wu, masking her true role as a spy. Using her allure, she distracts the lecherous king while Goujian secretly plots to reclaim his lost territory.
