Biography

John Forsythe, originally named Jacob Lincoln Freund, was an American actor renowned for his work across stage, television, and film. Born on January 29, 1918, he enjoyed a prolific career that spanned four decades and included a variety of genres. Forsythe gained recognition in the 1950s for his role as Bentley Gregg, a charming single father, in the popular sitcom Bachelor Father, which aired from 1957 to 1962. He further solidified his place in television history by voicing the elusive millionaire Charles 'Charlie' Townsend in the iconic crime series Charlie's Angels from 1976 to 1981. In the 1980s, he portrayed Blake Carrington, the influential patriarch in the soap opera Dynasty, which captivated audiences from 1981 to 1989. In addition to his acting achievements, Forsythe hosted the documentary series World of Survival from 1971 to 1977. His versatility and charisma made him a beloved figure in the entertainment industry, leaving a lasting legacy that continues to be celebrated. Forsythe passed away on April 1, 2010, but his contributions to television and film remain significant in American pop culture.
